In 2008, about 220 million tons of soybeans in the world were produced. United States (33%) Brazil (27%) and Argentina (21%) are the largest producers of soybeans. 83 percent of the soy crops are used to produce soy oil and animal feed.
In Finland, 98 percent of the soybean is used for oil industry and animal feed. In Finland the amount of soy animal feed imported was 168,000 tons in 2009.
